Nervi Museums - Modern Art Museum

In the splendid headquarters of Villa Saluzzo Serra in Nervi Parks, built and enlarged between the end of the 16th and 19th centuries, the Modern Art Gallery since 1928 has housed important Ligurian art collections from the 19th to the 21st century, with significant openings on the national context.

Modern Art Gallery is part of the Nervi Museums district, which also includes the Wolfsoniana, the Luxoro Museum and the Frugone Collections.

After the acquisition of the first nucleus of the collections, donated in 1866 by Prince Odone of Savoy, the civic heritage of modern art is enriched thanks to the numerous bequests, donations and an intense acquisition campaign implemented between 1912 and 1950 at the behest of the painter and art historian Orlando Grosso, first director of the Gallery.

The main artistic currents of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are told through works of absolute quality signed by artists such as Nicolò Barabino, Ernesto Rayper, Alfredo D’Andrade, Vincenzo Cabianca, Plinio Nomellini, Rubaldo Merello, Fortunato Depero, Felice Casorati, Filippo De Pisis, Francesco Messina, Eugenio Baroni, Arturo Martini, Renato Guttuso, Mario Mafai, Corrado Cagli.

The exhibition itinerary also includes a selection of paintings and furnishings from the Mitchell Wolfson Jr. Collection.
