For centuries, its peaks have protected and watched over Genoa &#8230; The mountains and hills rising around the valley of the <strong>Trebbia river<\/strong> defend pathways and <strong>ancient villages along the legendary state road 45<\/strong>. The road stretching from via Canevari&nbsp;to Piacenza is<br> rich in history and wonders. Its Ligurian side is dominated by <strong>Mount Antola<\/strong> (1597 m) and its natural park, which also includes villages such as Torriglia, Montebruno and Rovegno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From<strong> Torriglia<\/strong> you can reach <strong>Pentema\u2019s countrymen\u2019s houses<\/strong> (you can get there by car if you follow the provincial road toward Donetta or on foot \u2013 roughly 2 hours\u2019 walk \u2013 from Pietra, at via al Prato, when you have just entered Torriglia). They lie on the back of a mountain, locked within a very short space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.guidadigenova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/valtrebbia-liguria-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Val Trebbia, taglio di Pentema\" class=\"wp-image-73\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As you walk past <strong>Donetta<\/strong>, the mountain silhouette becomes firmer and more vulgar. It plunges steeply into the valley and runs as far as the \u201c<strong>Taglio di Pentema<\/strong>\u201d. Leave the car in the meaningless square obtained on the side of the road, do not ask yourself too many questions and get to the small path as far as the stone platform which used to be a small chalk statue\u2026 Distances bewteen the seaside and the Apennines are cancelled and you can take a joyful, deep breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized has-mobile-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.guidadigenova.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lago-brugneto-val-trebbia-D.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.guidadigenova.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lago-brugneto-val-trebbia-D.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1662\" style=\"width:300px\" width=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.guidadigenova.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lago-brugneto-val-trebbia-D.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.guidadigenova.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lago-brugneto-val-trebbia-D-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the contrary, if from the Donetta junction you keep going along the provincial road you will get to the banks of the <strong>Brugneto lake<\/strong>. The massive dam echoes each noise and on the lake surface the breath of that huge stretch of blue water will wrap you up just like a glove covers one\u2019s hand. If you carry on toward the Retezzo village, the road will go down to join the state road number 45 at <strong>Montebruno \u2013 an ancient Roman village \u2013 and later on Rovegno<\/strong>. Less than 4 km away from Rovegno, you will find the Pietranera rural oasis, where the wind chases the silence that, like a smiling girl, gets caught by the slits in the houses and the cracks in the walls. As you get past Ottone, the <strong>Piacenza province<\/strong> will start, where the road becomes narrower and follows the Trebbia\u2019s sensual silhouette. Following the road overhanging the river that carves the canyons is really unusual for the entire Italian paeninsula.
