Today it is a <strong>university area<\/strong>, hosting various faculties of the <strong>University of Genoa<\/strong>. The street was dedicated to the Balbi family, who financed the project and built a large number of buildings were listed as <strong><a aria-label=\"Palazzi dei Rolli (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guidadigenova.it\/en\/palazzi-dei-rolli-genoa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">Palazzi dei Rolli<\/a><\/strong>, which have become <strong><a aria-label=\"UNESCO World Heritage Sites (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/whc.unesco.org\/en\/list\/1211\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">UNESCO World Heritage Sites<\/a><\/strong>. The superb <strong>Palazzo Reale<\/strong> (Royal Palace) was included in this list. Palazzo Reale, which has <strong>preserved its 17th-18th century interiors intact<\/strong>, is now a museum-residence (<strong>Museo Statale di Palazzo Reale<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The importance of completing Via Balbi was comparable to the birth of Strada Nuova, which had occurred about one century before (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guidadigenova.it\/en\/genoa-history\/balbi-pre-district\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.guidadigenova.it\/en\/genoa-history\/historical-centre-pre-district-university-of-genoa\/\" target=\"_blank\">go to the historical insight<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Via Balbi is a seventeenth-century street with its UNESCO world heritage buildings.
